What is the LSAT and How is it Structured?

The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) measures the critical reading and reasoning skills required for success in law school. The digital exam contains four 35-minute multiple-choice sections: two scored Logical Reasoning sections, one scored Reading Comprehension section, and one unscored experimental section. Candidates also complete a separate, unscored 50-minute LSAT Argumentative Writing task. The current LSAT no longer includes the Analytical Reasoning section commonly known as logic games.

Why Law School Candidates Struggle with the LSAT

The LSAT tests reasoning ability rather than memorized legal knowledge. Candidates must evaluate arguments, identify hidden assumptions, draw valid inferences, and analyze dense reading passages under strict 35-minute section limits. Because the unscored experimental section is not identified, every section requires full effort. Many candidates lose points by reading inefficiently, overlooking subtle differences between answer choices, or relying on memorized tricks instead of developing repeatable reasoning strategies.
